Meet Nykia Gatson

My name is Nykia Gatson. I am a current Youth Leader among a few organizations across the country, formerly incarcerated by the juvenile system. As a youth I was directly impacted by the system of loss of my parents, home, clothes, and support.

The duration of my time being incarcerated made me become an independent youth who had to live alone and make a way for herself. Collectively with the work of other youth who have survived their own injustices with the juvenile system along with seeing others in need of advocacy with the voices the system has taken away, my dream and desire is to end all youth incarceration nationally.
